El Molino del Carmen is an atmospheric old olive mill reborn as a retreat with nine chic self catering properties. Inside, you can expect Moorish inspired details throughout: mosaic tilework, bright bathrooms and warm, thoughtful interiors, plus kitchens that are practical for preparing long breakfasts and easy dinners.

The apartments each have their own kitchen and living area, with one to four bedrooms depending on the unit. Every apartment has its own original design, which makes the spaces feel lived in and welcoming. Staying in one apartment works wonderfully, but combining several is also possible, creating a brilliant setup for groups. The apartments sit right in the heart of Gaucín, one of Andalucía’s white villages, where you can step out for a coffee, a good dinner, or a stroll through little shops. Gaucín is a small town with a long history. Its story begins in prehistoric times, and cave paintings from this era can still be seen in the area today. The town is well placed for scenic walks in the surrounding hills and for day trips that mix inland Andalucía with the coast, plus local experiences such as a visit to a nearby vineyard.

In Gaucín you can find wonderful viewpoints without needing the car. The views from the apartments are also a quiet headline act: on clear days you can pick out the Rock of Gibraltar and, beyond it, the Atlas Mountains across the water.
